Onward Ho, Mighty Mowers!

****WARNING**** I’ve done it AGAIN!  :-/ This is a double post, so make sure to keep reading and catch our swim lesson fun!

Like last week's post mentioned, Grayson really enjoys mowing with Daddy. I also noticed that Delaney would try to sneak in a few laps too. So we decided little Laneybug needed her own bubble mower, in pink of course!
She’s still a bit frightened by the loud noise, so she was trying to keep a bit of distance from the big shiny red mower, but after donning the required ear protection, she seemed a little bit more confident.
This is reason#4,825 why I love my little family. How stinking cute are these 3?!?

Check out the pictures and a little video of Dan and Mini-Dan emptying the lawn bag. Hilarious!

Yay! My very own mower!
Big brother provides a bumper to bumper inspection prior to use
"Laney, this is the parking brake. And this is the start button"
 Let's get this party started!
Yup Laney, you have ear protection too!
Uh oh...Daddy just got the BIG mower out...kind of scary!
See! There's the big shiny mower!

Using Dan as a height scale against my veggie garden. I already cut over 3 feet off the top of the tomatoes!
I think the peppers might need a trim soon too. Things are going crazy this year!
Lemons coming in too!
Silly cheesy girl

One Fish, Two Fish

DNA always amazes me. It’s so fun to see the traits Grayson and Delaney grow into from my side and Dan’s side. Grayson is so much like his father it’s uncanny. However, he takes on so many of my characteristics too. Point in case: swimming.
I am a total fish. I love the water in all ways I can get it…except on Hilton Head Island; I loved that beach, but Momma wasn’t about to jump into those alligator ponds. Pass! But serve up an ocean or a pool and I could (and have) sit for hours.

We started swim lessons again for Grayson this past week and he loves it! After the first day being a bit timid and observing the class (again, like his Daddy) Grayson jumped in with gusto on day 2. Since then he’s had a blast and we have a whole summer full of lessons and Mommy/Kiddo pool days to look forward to. I absolutely love that he is excited about it and enjoys it as much as I do. Looks like I have one pool buddy…here’s hoping Delaney will keep loving it and make us a summer trio!
Here are a couple videos of the fun and a few pictures too. I apologize for the quality, water reflections + a slight cloud cover + an iPhone = inability to capture stellar shots. :-)

A little pre-lesson splashing
 Zoooooom!
Pssst...Hey Momma, you still back there?

 Kick...kick....kick...
 All on his own!
The dumbbell floaties are his favorite

Daddy was able to come one of the mornings too! Some pre-lesson splashing with Daddy and Lil Sis.
He really, really likes his swim teacher.
Mr. Brandon is the cutest young man...so incredibly sweet and funny with the kids.
That face says it all...Swimming is AWESOME!

Apple, Meet Tree

Just like last year, Grayson still loves to help Daddy mow the lawn. He imitates Daddy step for step by checking to see if the bag is full with the classic “Dan kicks the bag” maneuver, parking the mower, emptying that imaginary grass bag and he absolutely insists on sporting the same ear protection like Daddy.
Here are the kiddos copying Daddy (Grayson), avoiding the lawn mower (Laney) and enjoying the amazing South Carolina summer weather. Plus a little video of Grayson on his tricycle. GG and Grandpa gave this to him for Christmas last year and it has definitely been a huge hit. He LOVES it! And man, can he get going really fast down hills…so fast it scares me to death! Boys will be boys!

The tongue cracks me up. I love how much fun he has copying Daddy.

Is the mower done?!? I'll be over here until it is!

Being 3 Years Old is Awesome!!!

***Warning*** There are 3 new posts today!  With our hectic schedule, I was a complete slacker and wasn't able to update the blog about our Myrtle trip. So keep reading and make sure to check out the other 2 posts after this one!

Our little man turned 3 years old this week.
I’m sure every parent says “things fly by”, but it’s incredibly truthful. It seems like just yesterday we were on our way to the hospital to have him. Ok, maybe not YESTERDAY, but certainly not 3 whole years ago. ;-)
Grayson really is turning into an incredible little boy too, right in front of our eyes. He’s very polite…always saying his please’s and thank you’s, yes ma’am’s and yes sir’s. He’s incredibly verbal, stringing together long sentences that sound as if they came from a teenager’s mouth. He loves imaginary play…constantly walking with Laney, hand in hand, “to the store” to pick up some yogurt, strawberries and bread. He LOVES fruit. Both kiddos do and I’m sure if I let them, they would be overjoyed to become fruitarians. My children are the only ones I know who will pass up pizza in lieu of a good plate of fresh fruit.  He tried a hamburger and chicken tenders for the first time ever the past 2 months…and didn’t like either one (more like his Momma every day).  He loves to give hugs and kisses, especially when someone gets a boo-boo. He is utterly enamored with all things Spiderman, Ironman, Superman and Buzz Lightyear. So much in fact that I’m tempted to let him be Buzz 2 years in a row on Halloween!  Planes, trains, trucks & tractors are a constant in our house, forever being pointed to and receiving the phrase “Ooooh, cool!” Just like Momma, he LOVES the beach/water. We heard the phrase “I LOOOOVE the beach! It’s sooo cool!” easily 1000 times during our recent vacation. He’s unbelievably smart and quick to catch on. Every day he counts higher and higher, and can do easy subtraction and addition. He loves to paint, color, and smoosh playdoh into triangles, squares, octagons, etc with cookie cutters. And most recently, we’ve discovered his love for bounce houses. This thing is awesome and so much fun for everyone, including the adults. It was a great birthday gift for him.
It’s easy to say we are extremely proud of our little man. I couldn’t be more in love with him, of who he is becoming and I can’t wait to see what the next year brings us.
Happy Birthday Grayson!!! You have blessed us more than you know.
Xoxoxo
Here are some photos from Grayson’s big day and a video of Delaney, dancing to her favorite song on his birthday. Every time she hears it, she comes running in to dance. It’s her jam! ;-)

The rest of Grayson’s birthday pictures are HERE. Don’t miss them!

Waking up and walking through his birthday streamers.

Helicopter birthday shirts are the best thing EVER!
Yup, even Laneybug got one! In pink, of course! Thanks G.G!
Here momma...here's my clippy

Buh-buh-BOUNCE HOUSE!

Momma even had to give it a whirl.
Taking a swing at his new toy
Birthday cake! I had 15 different cakes on my ipad, for him to pick...and this is what he chose. Go figure. Trucks and tractors!!
We let him stay up 2 hours after bed time...the boys were LOVING the nighttime bouncing.
So sweet. I LOVE this photo. They were having so much fun!
