The past 2 weeks have been A.Ma.Zing! I can’t tell you how much we love having Dan’s parents in town. They are so much fun and give our home the sense of family that we long for.
So when Ron and Thanne came into town, we made sure to hit a few milestones, a few popular venues, the beach, and ample time to relax on our decks.
Mmmm, our decks. I’m so happy with them. Nothing is better than setting up the water play yard, bubble machine, or water paints and letting Grayson drench himself….or sitting out with Dan playing a game of Uno on our rocking chairs after the kiddos have retired for the night. And I love that Ron and Thanne enjoy the outside as much as we do. Especially with 2 kids on opposite nap schedules. That certainly makes for a rigid schedule, so it was nice to be able to hang out here enjoying the weather.
We did make sure to attend Shaw’s airshow though. Unfortunately no Herkies were in attendance. BOOOO! Best plane in the Air Force by far!
Grayson had a great time too. Of course our caveat is that he had a bumpy start. When we first arrived, an F-16 flew right overhead, engines BLARING! I’m eternally grateful that Thanne was there…she provided the positive reinforcement and hip-hip-hoorays while I cried (yes, I really cried..I'm such a softie) b/c Grayson was so scared. Who could blame him, those F-16's are L.O.U.D! After he got acclimated, all the planes were really exciting for him. I can only imagine how much fun it was for Dan to share one of his passions. And we were pleasantly surprised that his ear protection was so accepted. Grayson quickly learned that they drastically aided him and you couldn't take the suckers off him. So glad he preferred the ear safety as Daddy wouldn't have allowed it any other way. It really was such a great day!
After the airshow we headed for the beach. Ahhh the beach. All of us spent as much time as possible in the surf and sand. And just like last year, Grayson didn’t want any part of the ocean. The lazy river, pool and indoor activities were approved, but if we were at the beach, he wanted to play with his Spiderman (aka Pidahman!!) kite and dig in the sand. And just like last year, he loved chasing the crabs and of course he loved walking miles down the beach, especially when his kite was floating above him.
And last but not least, we made sure to capture Delaney’s first taste of rice cereal this past week. Just like big brother, it wasn't all that exciting for her. Messy, but she wasn't too thrilled. I'll keep trying. I'm sure by next month she'll enjoy it.
