After nudging Ginger back inside for a few minutes and grabbing the camera, I went back out and was ecstatic to see the welcome wagon here in Columbia is not the same crew I had back in Little Rock.
And yes, I'm talking about the lovely Little Rock tarantulas that came waltzing into the yard...and then came charging after me, while I brandished a can of foam spider killer and my shovel (Gladiator style)...eeek, still gives me shivers.

Don't get me wrong, we've come across our fair share of skin crawling, new construction visitors here in Columbia (huge black widows, mosquitoes in swarms relative to Normandy) but this neighbor was a welcome site.
So welcome in fact that I've made a note to purchase some welcome-to-the-neighborhood "cookies" on our next trip to Wally or Home Depot.
I'm definitely a fan of Bambi!
How cute is he?!?!

They are adorable...but they dont need cookies, just plant a few hostas and they will find it plenty appealing for a long visit. it wont be long before you start looking for ways to "fence" them out of your yard. The locals here keep telling me to pee on our bushes, and deer spray smells like rotten eggs, so as a result, my yard looks like someone was a little overzealous with the weed whacker or thought ALL of my plants should be high and tight like the lawn.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love to watch them when we visit Chris in Fayetteville. I am sure you will have more as the cooler weather gets going. I bet they like those sweet roses in the front yard.
